The Deadly ISMs - Venezuela

In today's installment of The Deadly ISMs - Venezuela, we take a look at what happened with the advent of "Democratic" Socialism in that country. It isn't pretty.

However, I would opine before we even watch this short video we should examine the two words in that description, Democratic and Socialism.

Thankfully, Socialism is getting beat up quite a bit lately by almost any thoughtful person who understands what it really is. For all you "Bernie Bros"; It ain't "free stuff." It's UN-free stuff.

But you don't need me to pile on with my own refutation of that evil system. You can't avoid it on the net unless you really, really try. So let's focus for the briefest moment on the other word. Democracy.

Ever since we were kids, we have been told how wonderful and noble Democracy is. However, the people who founded this country, and a lot of other people down through time, rejected it as a way to organize society politically. There was a good reason for that. It sucks just as bad.

It is a system that seeks to force minority people to obey the commands of the majority. I know a bit about that since I'm a minority person. Huh? Yep, in a ton of categories, the most important of which is, I'm an advocate for liberty, I'm in the minority. And I'm used to it.

"Democracy" is also sometimes defined as "Ochlocracy" Mob rule. In a later post I'll expand on that a bit. But for now let's get back to what went wrong in Venezuela.
