But I agree with your reason. In my essay, I gave the same reason myself, along with a few others. However, even though you referenced a Journal article, I have seen no evidence that he actually presented his original certificate of birth to anyone publicly for perusal. Having said that, as I stated in the article, I am of the belief that he is, in fact, a citizen and that he can produce it at any time. I would be interested to know any sources you might have to demonstrate that he has, in fact, verifiably done so. A link to the article in the Wall Street Journal or elsewhere, which does that, would be greatly appreciated. In the absence of that, my conjecture, like yours in your earlier comment, is a valid source of entertainment. More importantly, it gave me the opportunity to write about things which are undebatably true, and also offered me the opportunity to opine about the potential problems associated with them. And those things are not entertaining to me, they are frightening. "

I gave one reason, which is essentially that he doesn't want to be forever done with it.

Another is that he has already shown the official birth certificate of Hawaii and the facts on it, that he was born in Hawaii, were confirmed twice by the authorities in Hawaii.

As the Wall Street Journal pointed out: "Obama has already provided a legal birth certificate demonstrating that he was born in Hawaii. No one has produced any serious evidence to the contrary. Absent such evidence, it is unreasonable to deny that Obama has met the burden of proof. We know that he was born in Honolulu as surely as we know that Bill Clinton was born in Hope, Ark., or George W. Bush in New Haven, Conn."smrstrausshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17130680385818556655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4701465355352273487.post-70755082031085683912009-10-08T12:10:08.385-05:002009-10-08T12:10:08.385-05:00Ah, the machinations of political calculations...

If he says Yes, he loses all the birther voters who go to a third-party candidate. If he says No, Obama releases all the additional material and makes the opponent look like a jerk. If the Republican says "I don't know," he would be portrayed as uninformed.smrstrausshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17130680385818556655noreply@blogger.com
